| National eating disorders and body image organisation, The Butterfly Foundation, welcomes the Australian Government’s $400,000 grant for a dedicated resources development and training program, which will expand Butterfly’s evidence-based body image and self esteem education services. The Butterfly Foundation’s Chairperson Claire Vickery said, “Butterfly is proud to support the Government’s commitment to education, media and industry targeted initiatives addressing the systemic issues of poor body image and its impact on self-esteem in Australia.” The funding announcement is part of a suite of initiatives that the Government has adopted based upon recommendations made by the National Advisory Group on Body Image. Included are the adoption of a new Voluntary Code of Conduct for Media and Industry and the launch of a new ‘national body image friendly awards scheme and symbol’. Winners of the awards scheme will be able to display this symbol as recognition of their leadership and achievement. For complete media release, please download file below. |
