The Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) is Australia’s leading accreditation agency for healthcare organisations. Quality and safety are pivotal issues for the healthcare industry in Australia. The accreditation sector is currently undergoing substantial evolution and growth. This Executive appointment offers a unique opportunity to take a lead role in addressing these issues and, as a part of the Executive Team, guiding the organisation in adapting to the changing environment. ACHS has a significant international presence and the successful appointee will also be involved in this work.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing and maintaining industry standards
• Leading the organisation’s research program
• Identifying and assessing opportunities for the development of new products and services
• The promotion and publication of information on quality in healthcare
• Supporting the education and performance assessment activities

The successful candidate’s qualities will include demonstrable experience with, and knowledge of, health industry quality and safety issues and accreditation systems. Research and evaluation experience would also be highly valued. They will take the lead role for the organisation’s quality improvement program. They will possess superior communication skills and leadership qualities.
