AHHA National Councillors
The Australian Healthcare & Hospitals Association is the nation's 'voice of public healthcare'. It has a key role as the sole national industry body representing the public and not-for-profit health sectors. AHHA is affiliated with the International and Asian Hospital Federations. Its members represent the broad continuum of healthcare services including area, regional and district health services, hospitals, community and primary health centres, aged and extended care facilities. Members of AHHA's National Board and Council come from services in all these sectors as well as academia and government. They are either elected by members or nominated by state branches. Our five-person National Board (President, two Vice Presidents, Honorary Treasurer and Immediate Past President) has overall responsibility for governance including the strategic direction and operational efficiency of the organisation, the protection of its assets and the quality of its services. The responsibilities of our National Council are to appoint the five Directors and oversee the professional activities of the AHHA including:
