About AHHA

The Australian Healthcare and Hospitals Association (AHHA), formerly Australian Healthcare Association (AHA), is the only national organisation representing the public healthcare sector and the professionals working in it since 1947.

The AHHA is uniquely positioned to facilitate collaboration between clinicians, academics, policy makers, administrators and politicians.

Your Voice in Public Healthcare

Since 1947 the AHHA is the voice of public healthcare in Australia and the only Association independently representing and supporting the public and not-for-profit healthcare sectors across all jurisdictions and across all states. AHHA’s primary role is to uphold and improve Australia’s public healthcare sector.

AHHA is an authoritative voice for the sector and those who work in it through:

  • Strong advocacy before ministers and senior officials
  • Respected and knowledgable voice in the media
  • Valued voice in inquiries and committees

How do we support you?

Membership of the AHHA assists you to influence policies of provision of best practice care by:

  • Connecting you to colleagues in all states and territories through policy networks
  • Facilitating your participation in discussing and developing policies, deliverables and options
  • Organising delegations to governments on your behalf

Membership of AHHA also provides support for you and/or your organisation if you need to make representations, eg:

  • Adverse impact of government policy or legislation
  • Funding for a particular activity
  • Recognition for innovative healthcare delivery or policy development

AHHA’s Vision

All Australians will have access to effective health services of high quality that are appropriate and responsive to their needs and coordinated across all settings (home, residential facility or hospital).  The services will be efficiently delivered by capable personnel and adequately resourced to ensure sustainability and safety.

AHHA’s Mission

To be an advocate for, and provide services to, the public and not-for-profit health sectors in Australia to improve their capability to provide high quality, safe care.

AHHA’s Values

  • The right of all Australians to universal coverage and equity of access to the healthcare system;
  • National healthcare policy solutions that are socially, economically and environmentally sustainable;

National Council

AHHA is governed by a National Council. Councillors are senior health care executives, and industry leaders from across Australia.
